8. It Came Straight From The Seventh Doctor's Mouth
Who better to trust than the Doctor himself? In March of this year, Sylvester McCoy was on the Newcastle Film and Comic Con panel where he dropped a rather dramatic spoiler - the Master is returning to Doctor Who. As to how he knows, that is the question; how close are the old stars of the Doctor Who to the making of the show? But let's assume he is privy to the secrets of Doctor Who. What exactly did he say? For a start, audiences are about to see a whole new Master (let's assume John Simm's Master will, or already has, regenerated). Apparently this Master will also be very, very scary. The rumours of Jack the Ripper present in the series opener (the newly-regenerated Doctor and Clara will be travelling back to Victorian England to meet up with old allies Jenny, Vastra and Strax) bring credence to this. Assuming the Master's return is set up at the very beginning of season eight, what better guise than as the notorious serial killer himself? After all, he's hardly likely to come at the Doctor guns (metaphorically) blazing. Subterfuge is a key element to his character and this may be one way he achieves that.
