Maebh does not allow the opinions of the others to dissuade her from her mission. No matter how many times she is dismissed she keeps trying to tell her story. She is the strongest and most well developed character in the episode. Clara doesnt listen to anyone but herself. She ignores Dannys voice for most of the story and is busy trying to upstage the Doctor. The Doctor is so caught up in the perceived crisis he almost misses the clue wrapped in a little red coat standing right in front of him. Someone is attempting to communicate with the Doctor through Maebh though we are never told who. The beings who engineered the tree growth deny sending the child to him. So who made her their messenger? And what were they trying to say? Did they send Maebh because they knew the Doctor would not be able to resist the voice of a child crying out lost and alone in the wilderness? Was this some kind of test or trap?
