3. They've Always Been Credited As "The Doctor"

We've already discussed cold opens so now let's look at the opposite end of an episode.

Ask any Doctor Who fan what the name of the main character is, and you'll get back, "It's the Doctor, not 'Doctor Who'". And rightly so! Compare this to normies, who will often refer to the character as "Doctor Who", or even worse, "Dr Who".

It's enough to make a Whovian shudder just thinking about it.

To support our claim fans will point out that the character has always been credited as "The Doctor" in the modern series. But strangely, that's not actually true.

In every episode of Series 1, Christopher Eccleston's Ninth Doctor is credited as "Doctor Who", and David Tennant is even credited with "Introducing Doctor Who" in his first appearance in The Parting of the Ways!

This was changed from The Christmas Invasion onwards, reportedly at Tennant's request. Ever since, it's been "The Doctor", as it always should have been. I will accept no further questions on this.

What's strange about Series 1 using the "Doctor Who" credit is that even the classic series had been using "The Doctor" towards the end of its run. Maybe Russell T Davies just wanted to annoy everyone?
