6. Vince McMahon (September 1999)

Some of you might have been expecting this to be number one.

When Mr. McMahon pinned Triple H on the September 16th 1999 episode of SmackDown to win the WWE Championship, eyes rolled across the nation. The 54-year-old owner of the company had just booked himself to win his own top title. Grab the straightjacket. Vince has clearly lost his mind.

While it's true that a non-wrestler should never come near the World title, the way in which McMahon won the belt was actually quite well done. He only pinned The Game after massive interference from Steve Austin and with his son Shane serving as the special guest referee. Vince gave up the belt after just six days, so the damage he could do as World champion was limited. It added a neat wrinkle to both his character and the history of the championship, and it's important to remember that Mr. McMahon was a major presence on WWE TV at the time.

Still, this should never have happened, so it's going on the list.

At least it wasn't as bad as his ECW title run a decade later.
