5. Triple H (August - September 1999)

What's worse than a middle-aged man winning a World championship? Losing your World championship to a middle-aged man. 

Considering how important Triple H would become to WWE, his first World title run got off to a weird start.

Everyone assumed that he would beat Stone Cold for the belt at SummerSlam 1999, but Mankind won the Triple Threat main event instead. Then, one night later on Raw, Trips beat Foley in a singles match to win the belt that should have been his in the first place.

The Game wouldn't last a full month as champion. He got a lot done in that time, including defending the title against The Rock on the very first episode of SmackDown, but it would only be 22 days until he was dethroned by his future father-in-law. Triple H's debut World title reign should have been so much better, which is why it's so high up this list. To make matters worse, the match to determine a new champion after Vince McMahon vacated the belt was won by... Triple H!
