10 Worst WWE Championship Reigns Of The 1990s

3. The Undertaker (May - June 1999)

Despite only lasting 36 days, The Undertaker's third WWE Championship reign contains two of the most infamous moments of the Attitude Era. The first one is no laughing matter. Taker defeated Steve Austin at Over the Edge 1999, the night Owen Hart tragically fell to his death after a stunt went wrong.

The decision to continue the show after Owen's death was and still is rightly, widely condemned. It makes Taker's victory at the end of the night seem even more icky.

The second event that marks this terrible reign is, thankfully, funny. On the June 7th edition of Raw, Vince McMahon revealed himself as the 'Higher Power', the mysterious entity that had been controlling Taker's Corporate Ministry faction.

This made absolutely no sense. The Ministry had routinely targeted Vince under the Higher Power's rule. It also reset the main event feud to Austin vs. McMahon, which fans were growing tired of.

'Taker lost the belt back to Austin on an episode of Raw, ending one of the sorriest chapters in his illustrious history.
