10 WWE Dream Matches That Happened On The Indies
7. Gunther vs. Fit Finlay
Europe has a long and proud history of supplying the USA with incredibly tough wrestlers who aren't afraid to teach those Yanks a thing or two. Today, we have Gunther, the Austrian powerhouse who retired the great John Cena. In the 1990s, however, there was Fit Finlay.
Hailing from Northern Ireland, The Belfast Bruiser had some brilliant brawls with the likes of William Regal and Chris Benoit in WCW. He resurrected his career in WWE and when he wasn't lumbered with having to look after Hornswoggle, he proved that he could still very much go.
After he left WWE in 2011, Finlay embarked on an indie tour that saw him fight a whole host of unexpected names. One of them was Walter, the man currently known as Gunther. These hard-hitters met not once but twice in Germany; once for European Wrestling Promotion (EWP) and once for Westside Xtreme Wrestling (WxW). In the latter match, Finlay beat Walter when he was WxW World Champion, but only by DQ.
In their respective primes, these two would have torn the house down in a mind-blowing war. Alas, they saved their only two meetings for the good people of Oberhausen.
