It's never fun to report that anyone has been released from contract.

Some of the releases included in this article were surely mutual (more news on that will follow), but that's besides the point - seeing pro wrestlers lose a paying gig is never good. Sadly, following mass talent culls in 2020 and again right after WrestleMania 37 this past April, WWE are at it again.

There had been rumblings early on Thursday afternoon that releases were coming, but nobody could've expected some of these names to be involved. NXT also got hit particularly hard, especially on the women's side, and that's curious when female rosters on Raw and SmackDown could use some sprucing up.

Not even WWE's own 2021 Draft was safe from this release-related nightmare. Several wrestlers who'd been part of talent trades on live television have now been cast out into the wrasslin' wilderness approx one month later. Hopefully, all going well, it's not too long before these men and women find a new place to ply their trade on the grappling map.

Here are all 18 WWE releases...so far. Yes, there could yet be more to come.

18. Jessi Kamea

Last Match: vs. Raquel Gonzalez (31 August 2021 NXT)

Jessi Kamea signed with WWE back in 2017, but she never really became a stalwart on NXT. In fact, many of Kamea's appearances were in multi-woman affairs or routine squash matches; her last was a two-minute defeat at the hands of ex-NXT Women's Champ Raquel Gonzalez.

EVOLVE did provide some sanctuary for Kamea during WWE's business dealings with the independent company. Again though, this was fleeting. She'll hopefully find work on the indys again, or maybe even get a tryout with AEW.

The women's scene in NXT lost some depth during these recent "budget cuts".
