Trick Williams versus Ricky Saints probably should have just been the two charismatic superstars doing battle on the microphone for ten minutes, rather than trying to wrestle a United States Championship match.

Williams successfully defended his title in an utterly underwhelming match that would have worked better as a top-of-the-hour SmackDown TV title defense rather than a rare PLE match for the secondary title. The fans, who were quite hot for good parts of this show, fell silent for stretches of this match. The bout itself was a series of “you do your moves, then I’ll do mine, then we’ll switch again” with no real flow.

Even the finish had no real flow, with Trick going for a second Bookend, only for Saints to try another Revolution DDT, which then led to Williams running the ropes and hitting the Trick Shot knee for the win.

And then Lil Yachty hit one of the worst-looking People’s Elbows you’ll see. The end.
