3 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE Raw (12 Oct - Results & Review)
UPS…
3. A Simple Reinforcement
Penta certainly has cashed in on his hard work during the past couple of months, earning praise for his work in the tournament to challenge Roman Reigns in Mexico City last month, and then delivering a tremendous performance against the Tribal Chief.
Saturday, he won the Money in the Bank briefcase, which could very well open the door to him becoming a world champion. Monday, the luchador opened Raw to follow up, thanking his opponents and reminding everyone that he fought for every opportunity he’s received – including this one at MITB.
Penta warned both world champions to watch their backs, because when he decides to cash in, he will become a world champ himself. And really, who can doubt him? His custom briefcase shoots pyro! (That was a great touch.)
Bron Breakker rained on his parade by attacking Je’Von Evans, which presumably will set up a feud between Penta and the tag champ. That could make for a solid rivalry, and there are some interesting directions it could take. (One could see a scenario where Penta enlists his brother to challenge Bron and his tag partner Austin Theory for the World Tag Team Championships.)
On a brand where the world champion is rarely present, this is about the best we can hope for for the briefcase holder. It’s not like Penta can just walk up to Roman Reigns to tell him to watch his back.
