The dialogue between Cody Rhodes and Sami Zayn, including Cody mentioning Kevin Owens, was good if skewed on the KO front. After all, Rhodes was talking rubbish when he said that Kev never 'stabbed from the back' like he claims Sami is now. That simply wasn't true, but it's easy enough to roll with it considering how long ago Cody vs. KO was.

Besides, there's a lot to like about these interactions Rhodes and Zayn are having on TV.

Unfortunately, both Gunther and Jey Uso had nothing much of value to say during their time on the mic, but Oba Femi turning up to have a staredown with everyone was worth checking out. At least WWE has plenty of different outcomes to play with, and this promo skit highlighted that. Cody vs. Sami is enticing, and so is Cody vs. Oba. Then, there's Oba vs. Gunther and vs. Zayn.

Clearly, Jey is the odd one out in all of this. If he somehow wins King Of The Ring at Night Of Champions (which could happen if Brock Lesnar screws Femi over), then there's limited value in Uso challenging Cody come SummerSlam. WWE would need to work overtime to get everyone invested in that.

This was a fab ending to SmackDown, right enough. It was high intensity, the mic work was great from Cody and Sami, then Oba stood there looking like the human brick wall he is. Everybody else on the roster can see that he's going to be a poster boy. Everybody. That's making Femi look real, real good.
