7 WWE Returns That Flopped HARD!
6. Ultimate Warrior
The Ultimate Warrior is one of the biggest stars of WWE's Golden Era. His in-ring work may not have stood the test of time, but his entrance, intensity, and snarling, nonsensical promos mean that the Warrior remains a character as vital to his glory days as any of his peers. His rampant ego saw him at odds with the company about his status as a top draw, as financial disagreements with Vince McMahon led to his termination after SummerSlam 1991.
He had a brief return in 1992, running in to help Hulk Hogan at the climax of WrestleMania 8 on April 5th, before having disappointing feuds with Papa Shango and Randy Savage, and then being fired again in November just ahead of Survivor Series. Somehow, this was nowhere near as catastrophic as when Warrior again returned to WWE in 1996.
His 99-second squash of Triple H at WrestleMania 12 went against creative plans, as he no-sold The Pedigree in infuriating fashion, making his opponent look like a chump. In-ring standards in the company had drastically improved since Warrior's heyday, as his work with Jerry Lawler and Goldust fell well below standards. Warrior was fired again within 3 months of his comeback, leading to WWE tarnishing his legacy with the infamous 'The Self Destruction of The Ultimate Warrior' DVD.
