Jacob Fatu's WWE Clash In Italy Replacement Was Going To Be... (WWE News)
Jacob Fatu nearly missed WWE Clash in Italy due to injury.
While Roman Reigns vs. Jacob Fatu did happen as the main event of Clash in Italy yesterday, there was some uncertainty going into that PLE over the Samoan Werewolf's status. And now, we have some information on one of WWE's contingency plans should Fatu not have been able to compete in Turin.
For those who may have missed it, Jacob suffered an injury at a WWE live event in Liverpool, England on Thursday, with this subsequently reported to be a back issue that threw up serious questions over the former United States Champion's status for Clash in Italy, where he was scheduled to face Roman for the World Heavyweight Championship in Tribal Combat.
Of course, Jacob Fatu was ultimately able to compete at Clash in Italy, coming up short against the OTC and now seemingly becoming the latest family member who'll have to pledge their allegiance to Roman.
However, should Jacob have been unable to compete at Clash in Italy, Falsh Finish has learned that one alternative plan was for Drew McIntyre to replace him against Reigns.
McIntyre hasn't been seen since losing to Jacob Fatu at WrestleMania 42, with the Scottish Warrior having spent the past few weeks working on Chad Stahelski's upcoming Highlander reboot that's been shooting in Scotland. The past few days have seen various reports that Drew had wrapped on Highlander, and that he was ready to return to WWE programming imminently. And by all accounts, that 'imminently' could have been as soon as Clash in Italy yesterday should Fatu have been pulled from the event.
