With plentiful speculation surrounding their WWE future in recent months, it looks as if Karrion Kross and Scarlett Bordeaux are now done with WWE.

For eagle-eyed fans, they've noticed how Kross and Scarlett are now listed in the Alumni section of WWE.com's roster page. In the case of the former NXT Champion, he can be found sandwiched between Karl Anderson and Kassius Ohno, whereas Bordeaux is listed between Saxon Huxley and Scott Dawson.

Per Fightful Select, Karrion Kross and Scarlett Bordeaux's WWE deals were due to expire at midnight on 10 August - as in, today - and there has been nothing confirmed about any new contract being in place for the two. This report also notes how Karrion and Scarlett will be answering questions on this topic in the next couple of days.

This comes on the heels of various reports stating that Kross and Scarlett's deals were set to expire this weekend and that the pair had not been offered new contracts, nor had WWE expressed any interest in re-signing the real-life married couple.

With no word on new deals, those previous reports of WWE having not shown interest in extending the talents' stay, and now Karrion and Scarlett being moved to the Alumni section of WWE.com, all signs point to them being on their way out of the company, seemingly set to become free agents once the clock strikes midnight today.

More Than Meets The Eye?

So, Karrion Kross and Scarlett Bordeaux are finishing up with WWE. Or are they?

Of course, some fans are speculating that this is all part of a larger work, a larger storyline, with WWE, Kross, and Scarlett leaning into the stories about contract expirations and WWE's lack of interest in the two talents staying with the promotion.

Recent months have seen the groundswell of fan support for Kross and Scarlett continue to grow, with the pair regularly getting one of the loudest reactions of the night as and when they appear. So much of this goes back to Karrion's social media output, where, when he was receiving extremely minimal TV time, he'd instead post his own videos online, showcasing his undeniable charisma and sheer entertainment value.

Purely spitballing, but from your writer's perspective, the likelihood of these WWE exits not being part of a planned storyline seems slim. In Karrion Kross, you've got somebody who's recently been involved in SummerSlam, having a match at one of WWE's biggest PLEs of the year.

Just to look at the statistics, Karrion Kross has only had one other PLE match of any kind in the past 16 months or so - against Sami Zayn at Night of Champions in June - and he'd only competed in three PLE singles matches in his entire time on the WWE main roster. Historically, this is someone that WWE has rarely featured on PLE. On top of that, reports claim WWE had not offered Kross or Scarlett new deals, which would suggest the company doesn't deem it worthwhile to keep them on the roster. So, you've got someone who doesn't get used much on PLEs, who WWE has no interest in renewing, but the company is then going to give that talent a match at a huge event like SummerSlam, just a couple of weeks before they know that the wrestler in question is leaving? It could be the conspiracy theorist in us all, but that doesn't really make sense, particularly when looking at how WWE usually tends to handle talents who are on their way out the door.

Now, maybe WWE gave Karrion Kross the SummerSlam match as one last chance to impress, maybe it was simply to put a bow in Kross' rivalry with Sami Zayn, or maybe it was a gesture of a final WWE PLE payday for Kross and Scarlett. And maybe, yes, Kross and Scarlett are genuinely about to hit the free agency market.

If this really is it for Kross and Scarlett in WWE, they certainly won't be short of potential suitors. But for WWE not to capitalise on the ever-growing groundswell of support for the two - as perfectly highlighted by the "We Want Kross!" chants at the SummerSlam post-show - that seems too foolish to be true. And by playing up Kross and Scarlett being free agents, having them vent their frustrations at WWE, possibly turn up at WWE arenas or parking lots, that would be one way to capitalise on this buzz.

But again, maybe it's simply a case of Karrion Kross and Scarlett Bordeaux legitimately being done with WWE. Either way, the two continue to be the talk of the wrestling world right now.
