Following backlash over his involvement in the Rhodes vs. Orton feud, McAfee announced that he was done with pro wrestling, speaking to ESPN and thanking the wrestling world. This additionally tied in with the 'Mania 42 story, where, should Randy not beat Cody Rhodes, Pat promised he'd step away from the business entirely. Now, originally, it was believed that Randal Keith was planned to defeat Cody at the Showcase of the Immortals, but those plans were ultimately changed, all as rumblings persist even now that Randy is dealing with certain back issues, and the Viper has likewise not been seen since WrestleMania 42.
