Backstage Update On Two Former WWE Champions Going MISSING (WWE News)

If recent reports are true, then SummerSlam comebacks await these HUGE WWE stars.

WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select has received word that "an internal document that circulated earlier this month" within WWE shows the names of AWOL stars Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton. That document is tied to SummerSlam weekend right at the start of August, so it looks like both will be back in time to build towards matches on the PLE.

If so, that'd be a huge boost for creative.

McIntyre and Orton have been on the sidelines since WrestleMania 42 for different reasons; Randy has just been taking some time off to rest (essential due to his tenure in-ring and a rumoured back injury), whereas Drew has been shooting scenes for a new Highlander movie. In truth, the Scot was surely due a little rest and recovery from the rigours of the road himself.

Neither WrestleVotes nor Fightful has heard locked in plans for the pair heading into SummerSlam, but it does look likely they'll be involved in some capacity. It remains to be seen who they'll be warring with in Minneapolis though. Before taking respective sabbaticals, Orton and McIntyre had been firmly in the WWE Title picture, but that could change once they return.

The fact they're being considered by the writing team shows how close both are to comebacks, at least. Triple H will welcome veterans with the experience these guys have, especially when they're so over with live crowds. Typically, they'd be handy for padding out 3 hour editions of SmackDown, but recent news suggests that the Friday night show will return to a 2 hour format in July.
