Ranking Every WWE Championship Reign Of The 2020s So Far

2. Drew McIntyre (April-October 2020)

Drew McIntyre finally made good on his 'Chosen One' nickname when he slayed Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 36 to win his first world title in WWE. He then had to defend it against the Big Show immediately after, a decision that still confuses me all these years later.

The new champ had the unenviable task of carrying the company through a global pandemic, but he took to his role with ease. He had solid pay-per-view bouts against Bobby Lashley, Dolph Ziggler, and Randy Orton, but it was more about the way he carried himself as champion

McIntyre felt like a star. Despite having never been WWE Champion before, he had the aura of a seasoned main eventer and the perfect representative for the company. He was doing this as a babyface, lest we forget, which is so much harder than being a dominant heel champ.

If he hadn't randomly lost the belt to Randy Orton for a month, Drew McIntyre's first WWE Championship reign could have been even better. Instead, we got 214 days of him proving that he belonged among the cream of the crop, even if he didn't have the best tools at his disposal.
