18. The Rock vs 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin (WrestleMania 15)

The first of their trilogy of WrestleMania epics, 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin vs The Rock is the feud that defined a generation. With Steve Austin and Vince McMahon's legendary feud in full swing, McMahon needed an in-ring force that would represent his Corporate mantra to hold off 'The Texas Rattlesnake's quest to be WWE Champion. The Rock was the perfect fit for this role, and arguably the greatest rivalry in the history of WWE was born.

The Rock held the WWE Championship, but Austin vs McMahon dominated the story on the road to WrestleMania 15. McMahon had succeeded in halting Austin's road to WrestleMania by winning the 1999 Royal Rumble, eliminating 'Stone Cold' to win the match. When he decided to vacate his title shot, commissioner Shawn Michaels announced that Austin was now number 1 contender as he was runner-up in the Royal Rumble match. Austin would put his shot on the line against McMahon in a Steel Cage Match at St. Valentine's Day Massacre, where he would win via a debuting Big Show throwing 'Stone Cold' through the cage.

This WrestleMania 15 headliner was classic Attitude Era chaos, with the match starting with a brawl in the aisle before the match was even officially underway, Austin taking a Rock Bottom through the announcer table, a multitude of ref bumps, and, eventually, The Rock eating a Stone Cold Stunner for Austin to win the WWE title.
