WWE Backlash 2026: 9 Nightmares That Could Come True
8. Lil Yachty Turns On Trick
There is another option, and it's similarly chaotic.
Turns only really fly when somebody has a connection with the audience. If people tuning in or buying tickets care about an act, then they'll react accordingly to any alignment changes on camera. If they don't, then they won't, and hanger-on celeb Lil Yachty falls into the latter camp. He's only involved at all due to Trick Williams.
The rapper doesn't have much credit in the bank with the fanbase to speak of. In fact, 99.9% of those checking out WWE's product either don't really know who he is or don't pay much attention to his hype man work on the mic alongside Trick Willy. That's just the way it is. Yachty is a mere prop for Williams at best.
Don't rule out a turn though. Y'know, just for the sake of it. The problem? Not only is Yachty set dressing for Trick's promos, he also isn't somebody that wrestling fans would like to see attached to Sami Zayn. Assuming that was the plan here. Sadly, the biz can't resist a swerve for the sake of a swerve every now and then.
'No-one would see it coming' isn't always the best justification for running with a hard left turn. One can envision fans in Tampa snoozing their way through a Lil Yachty heel move if it's on the cards. Or, perhaps the decision has already been made to quietly move him aside internally.
Questions may be asked as to why Yachty is getting a WWE pay check but New Day aren't, for example.
