WWE Clash In Paris 2025: 10 Nightmares That Could Come True
Brock Lesnar hits repeat, John Cena's past comes back to haunt him and more Clash In Paris hell.
Wrestling fans in France for last year's Backlash 2024 were so rowdy and passionate that WWE knew they had to come back for another helping. This week's Clash In Paris event is exactly that - it's the company saying: 'Yes, yes we need a bit more of that goodness!'. Rightly so, but what if their wildest dreams turn into a string of Parisian nightmares?!
Unwanted title changes, swerve turns for the sake of it, poor booking choices and duff performances nobody could've predicted going in. Oh yes, you know the score by now. This article doesn't concern itself with the good that could happen on WWE PLEs, because it's far too wrapped up in all of the fingernail chewing anxiety that comes with pondering the worst that could go down on the next supershow.
WWE has some big matches on tap for Sunday night. John Cena wrestles in France for the final time against social media live wire Logan Paul, Seth Rollins puts his World Heavyweight Title on the line in a Fatal-4-Way vs. CM Punk, LA Knight and Jey Uso, Roman Reigns is in the house for a showdown with Bronson Reed, Sheamus and Rusev will butt heads, and Becky Lynch defends her Women's Intercontinental Title against Nikki Bella.
So, what could go wrong? In short, a lot. You could be seeing snippets from creative meetings before Clash on a future series of WWE Unreal if Netflix have their cameras out. Maybe that's over the top, but be warned. There isn't much room for positivity here.
Here's how things could unravel in Paris, Brock Lesnar included!
10. The Crowd Is Flatter Than Backlash 2024
As the intro states, Lyon was hyped for Backlash last year.
They proved to be one of the most memorable crowds of 2024. Their volume, passion and general spark set a new bar for these international PLEs. So, WWE management have every right to go in expecting Paris to be the same. They'll likely even bust out those old noise graphics measuring just how loud the French capital wants to get for major moments on the card.
Here's where reality bites: Not all pro wrestling crowds are created equal. Scotland tried but failed to match the energy of Lyon for Clash At The Castle last year, and it's hardly like Saudi Arabian PLEs ever carry a red hot atmosphere. They've improved over the years, but they're not on par with what happened in Puerto Rico for Backlash 2023 or in France for the following year's event.
It’d be a bit of a nightmare if this one didn’t live up to the hype. No pressure, catch fans! You'll be expected to remain loud for the entire duration of the night though. That could be challenging, but at least the star power is spread evenly throughout this PLE. One minute, people will be watching Becky Lynch and Roman Reigns, the next, they'll seeing top names like Seth Rollins, CM Punk and John Cena.
There's a lot to like about the way Triple H has dealt his hand for Sunday, but hopefully WWE's roster gives Paris a show worthy of their passion and noise. It'd be awful if this had a house show atmosphere rather than feeling like some super-important stop on the road.
Over to you again, France.
