WWE Wrestlepalooza 2025: 8 Nightmares That Could Come True

Turns aplenty and senseless booking on WWE's latest PLE? Don't rule it out.

Saturday night's unexpected Wrestlepalooza PLE is absolutely STACKED.

WWE has brought out some big guns for this one, that's for sure. Brock Lesnar returned at SummerSlam to cast his gaze on John Cena mid-retirement tour, AJ Lee is back in the building to team with her husband CM Punk against Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins, Cody Rhodes traded Street Fighter for 'Scot Fighter' and will defend his WWE Title vs. Drew McIntyre, either Stephanie Vaquer or IYO SKY will bag the gold vacated by Naomi, and then there's that Usos vs. "The Bronsons" (Jey's words) tag-team battle.

Things are looking good then, but you know the drill when you see "nightmares" in the title. This isn't about all the greatness that could go down in Indianapolis this weekend, it's about all the fingernail-chewing terrors lurking in the shadows. In short, imagine the creative team shown off on WWE Unreal just decided to rip up their plans in favour of trolling people or making their own jobs harder.

We've got missed opportunities, swerves for the sake of swerves, some turns that play into that, crushing disappointments in 'last time ever' showdowns, Triple H getting in his own way and booking himself into a corner etc. That's all here, and it'd all rank as the absolute worst that could happen at Wrestlepalooza.

ECW's only Wrestlepalooza PPV in 1998 featured a match between the bWo and the FBI. Those were Full Blooded Italians, but someone might need to phone in the actual feds if any of this happens on WWE's watch.

8. WWE Misses The Boat On A Mega-Match

Stephanie Vaquer vs. Rhea Ripley has been lined up as babyface vs. babyface on TV lately. Missing out on that to give IYO SKY another title reign and have her feud with Asuka would be bold. Don’t get it wrong: IYO vs. Asuka would be fire and they'd have some banging matches as rivals, but Vaquer vs. Ripley sounds like even more fun.

SKY can battle Asuka and Kairi Sane without the belt on the line anyway.

Vaquer is set for a mega-push. WWE top brass clearly love what they're seeing, so it'd be a shocker if she didn't beat SKY here then rolled on to face 'Mami' over in Australia come Crown Jewel, or something like that. Sure, Perth would be baying for blood in the immediate aftermath of Rhea's loss, but they'd understand the assignment. Stephanie is already popular enough to offset some of the negative feedback that'd surely pour in anyway.

Of course, an alternative would be skipping Crown Jewel so Ripley has a definitive heel to work with in front of a partisan crowd, then picking things right back up between her and Vaquer heading into Survivor Series. Or...what if Trips favours going with IYO vs. Rhea again? They've got chemistry coming out of their ears, but WWE must be careful not to hit burnout with them.

Missing the boat on Vaquer's title win and resultant push just to get a combo fans have already seen back in the ring would have to be viewed as a mistake. Sadly, it's one that could happen, especially if the boss is unconvinced that Steph vs. Ripley would work in 2025.
