Perhaps the most chilling thing about The Killing Joke's cover is the sheer whimsicality of it all. Brian Bolland's illustration of The Joker taking a photograph comes across to the untrained eye as seemingly harmless, unbeknownst to them that it's a prelude to the story's most infamous scene.
