Comic books of late, especially when coupled with the boom of Superhero movies in Hollywood in the last eleven years, have become increasingly more cinematic in their presentations with their reliance more on big, beautiful art than the overblown and lengthy speech bubbles of the silver age.
It was the rarity of splash pages such as this (illustrated, again, by the legendary Jack Kirby) that such cinematic moments as the arrival at the planet of giants could really be felt.
