Mortality regarding Superheroes will always be a hard subject to properly handle, and ever since the death and return of Superman, death in comic books has felt more like a temporary hiatus than a permanent consequence.
However, this did not serve to make the death of Batman any less poignant in this heart-rending panel that should not be seen as Superman mourning Batman, but as Clark Kent mourning his best friend.
