Steve Ditko and Stan Lee's work on The Amazing Spider-Man defined the character, but it took various events in the web-slinger's life to mature him as a superhero.

One of the most important defining moments of Spider-Man's life was in issue #33 when Doc Ock nearly killed him by trapping him under rubble - he was able to recover his will and escape, which was captured in this iconic imagery.
