Initially, Azrael was only a supporting character in the Batman stories having been portrayed as a villain, but he transitioned into hero and took over the role of Batman for a while after Bane had broken Bruce Wayne's back.
Azrael's Batsuit is a modified armor, which retains some of the standard characteristics of the Dark Knight with the addition of razor sharp claws.
