The suit of armor put together by an aged Bruce Wayne in The Dark Knight Returns was designed solely to take on Superman... and it did.

The suit was a type of power armor capable of matching the strength of a weakened Kryptonian, and was so popular, that it inspired the look seen in the film Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.
