10 Amazing Roles That Saved Typecast Actors

3. Robin Williams - One Hour Photo

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjIBX5RrG4Q Robin Williams remains best known for his zany comedy roles, and even in his more serious works, such as Good Will Hunting, he still tends to play the nice guy. Still, that all changed when he took the role of Seymour Parrish in Mark Romanek's One Hour Photo. Parrish is an employee of a one-hour photo lab, and becomes obsessed with a friendly middle-class family whose photos he regularly develops, wishing for a life not unlike their own. Things soon take a turn for the deranged when Parrish's alienation and loneliness cause him to act out in terrifying ways. Williams received wide acclaim for the performance, and went on to play more daring roles in both Christopher Nolan's Insomnia and the dark (like, really dark) comedy World's Greatest Dad.
