7. Carlo Rizzi - The Godfather

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rafxosz3CrA Carlo Rizzi might be the most callous character in the entire Godfather saga, and it all starts with the brutal beating that he gives Sonny's sister. Sonny, infuriated, decides to go take care of Carlo, and given how badass Sonny is, I couldn't wait for it, I was gripped. But of course, Carlo is smarter than we think and is aware of Sonny's hot-headedness, ensnaring him by some tollbooths and having him shot to death in a ridiculously gratuitous hail of machine gun fire (though we still think it's the kick at the end that really finished him off). By this point, we're seething, we hate Carlo and just want him to disappear out of the picture because he's killed the film's best character. Trust Michael Corleone, then, to dish out classic revenge, assuring Carlo that his life will be spared and he will only be exiled, only for Clemenza to garotte him to death in his car. Now that's an awesome death of a character who is most certainly an annoyance.
