10 Best Film Directors With Less Than 5 Films

9. Benny & Josh Safdie

With four feature films (and two documentaries) to their name, the Safdie brothers are gaining a reputation for gritty surrealist dramas that move fast and and hit heavy with an unrelenting pace.

Gaining more acclaim with each release, people started to take serious notice of Josh and Benny Safdie after they released Good Time, a grimy crime film starring a then overlooked Robert Pattinson.

Pattinson had garnered a reputation in the wake of the Twilight films and wasn't getting many opportunities to show off his talents. The Safdie brothers allowed him to showcase his dramatic range and now Pattinson is something of an indie cinema mainstay and a future Batman.

Likewise their most recent film, Uncut Gems, a tightly edited tension filled stress vehicle designed to make you as uncomfortable as possible and barely slows down in its over two hour runtime, stars funny man Adam Sandler.

The man is practically marmite in the industry, but the Safdie brothers gave him a chance to prove his worth and Uncut Gems is unquestionably his best work.

Perhaps they'll also make a career out of taking under valued actors such as Robert Pattinson and Adam Sandler and mining their talents for all to see.
