6. Kings Of The Summer

No one saw it €“ mainly because the film was released on such a limited basis it made spam rationing during the war seem positively plentiful €“ but for those that caught a glimpse of the trailer, the film became a must see. A story of adolescence, growing up and finding your place in an increasingly bewildering world, the trailer and its film are endlessly endearing and humorous. Why It Works: For starters it looks great, full of clear blue sky and warm red sunsets €“ the trailer manages to capture the look and feel of summer perfectly. Quirky and fiercely original, the laughs are divided equally between the three central characters and the overbearing parents they strive to get away from. Although it does descend into independent film trailer cliche by gravitating too quickly to the melancholic mobile, the trailer revels in the films clear celebration of youth and leaves you longing for the days when responsibility was nothing more than an afterthought.
