10 Disney Movies You Didn’t Know Were Shameless Rip-Offs

6. The Rescuers and The Rescuers Down Under The Rescuers was a Disney film so successful that it was the first one to warrant a sequel made by the classic Disney animation production company. But the film and its sequel €˜The Rescuers Down Under€™ were based on different books from the series of €˜Miss Bianca€™ novels by Margery Sharp. Whilst the books are apparently pretty good Walt Disney did decide that some changes needed to be made. The first book is about three mice saving a Norwegian poet from imprisonment but Walt in his infinite wisdom decided that a heart warming tale about some cute mice saving a cute polar bear from the zoo would satisfy the family market much more. The finished film ended up quite different. Another aspect of the film that interestingly wasn€™t from the book is the villain, Madam Medusa. The original plan for the film was that Disney fan-favourite Cruella De Ville would make a return so the villainess shares ceryain strands of DNA with another Disney Demoness.
