10 Filmmakers Who Defended Their Terrible Movies

2. Steven Spielberg Has Nothing But Love For Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull

To be fair to Shyamalan, even the actual Spielberg has bad days at the office.

One of his worst was 2008's Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull, a movie so underwhelming that even Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen star Shia LaBeouf has admitted it kinda sucked.

But Spielberg himself? He doesn't think it's that bad. In fact, in 2011, he came out and said he was happy with it, even in spite of the widespread criticism it received:

"I’m really proud of the movie. I loved bringing Marion back, I love the fact that Indy now has a son. It’s a family action film, and I love that whole conceit.”

At the same time though, he did admit that the idea of bringing aliens into the Indy franchise was something he wasn't sure of, revealing that he clashed with George Lucas and Harrison Ford over that particular concept.

Considering that those aliens are one of the most hated parts of the movie... maybe Spielberg should've put his foot down on this one.
