10 More Movies That Almost Had Much Better Endings

3. Chris Gets Arrested - Get Out

Despite previously being best known as one half of the comedy duo Key and Peele, Jordan Peele took the entire horror genre by storm in 2017 with his directorial debut. Get Out was almost universally praised, and became all but a classic overnight.

The director was praised for his approach to and interpretation of society, and its powerful message about inequality and discrimination. Chris (Daniel Kaluuya) discovered a conspiracy in which wealthy white people had their consciousness implanted into the bodies of younger Black people with desirable qualities and characteristics, trying to achieve a sick form of immortality. The new host's conscience would still be alive, but dormant and unable to do anything.

Chris managed to escape and kill the Armitage family who were committing such atrocities and holding him hostage. He was rescued by his best friend Rod (Lil Rey Howery), and the two got away. There was an alternate ending however, that would have been far darker, but could have driven home the message of Peele's story even further.

Rather than Chris being rescued, he would have been greeted by the police who immediately arrested him for the murder of the Armitage family, with nobody believing his story. The distinct lack of justice brought on by Chris being sent to prison, depressing as it may have been, arguably would have been a more poignant and thought-provoking full stop on the message the movie portrayed throughout than his ultimate escape.
