10 Most Memorable Film Deaths By Every Day Objects

5. Fire Extinguisher - Irreversible

Irreversible Gaspar Noe's exceptional and grim 2002 mystery thriller might have been most notorious for its rape scene and a brutality that would make it almost unwatchable for a lot of people, but it is the attempted retribution for that scene that really stands out as the most brutally violent scene of the film. When his girlfriend Alex is brutally raped by a man called le Tenia (the Tapeworm,) after discovering him beating a trasngender sex worker (called Concha), Marcus sets out on the trail of vengeance, first threatening Concha with violence to find out the name of the attacker, and then tracking him to a sex club called The Rectum. There he attacks the man he believes to be le Tenia, who breaks his arm and attempts to rape him on the club floor, before he is beaten to death with a fire extinguisher wielded by Marcus' friend Pierre. It is a grim, profoundly affecting scene, and one that rightly confirms Irreversible as one of the most extreme of Extremist films.
