2. Indiana Jones

There are plenty of instances in the first three Indiana Jones films where the titular character should have met a sticky end, but Indy's sheer guile and charm makes us believe time and time again that he can scrape through by the skin of his teeth. Not so much in the fourth film, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, however, where he winds up in the middle of a nuclear bomb testing site in Nevada, and decides to hide inside a
fridge which, because this is totally relevant, is clearly noted to be lead-lined. In reality, lead-lined or not, the nuclear explosion that catapults the fridge through the air would have melted the fridge almost instantaneously, giving Indy a probably painless but nevertheless thoroughly unpleasant death in the blink of an eye. Instead, Indy emerges unscathed, gets a quick wash and moves on with stopping Irina Spalko (I hate that I even remember that name). What gives?
