10 Movie Plot Twists So Subtle You Totally Missed Them

7. Snoke Accidentally Got Himself Killed - Star Wars: The Last Jedi

It's certainly one hell of a twist when, half-way through Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis) is suddenly killed by Kylo Ren (Adam Driver).

Ren uses the Force to sneakily rotate the Skywalker lightsaber next to Snoke and then ignite it, cleaving him in half, in what remains one of the series' most shocking moments.

But the crucial detail that many fans surely missed? Snoke basically unintentionally brought about his own demise.

If you revisit the scene, it's clear that Kylo Ren gets the idea to rotate the lightsaber after Snoke throws Rey (Daisy Ridley) to the ground and she drops Ren's own lightsaber, which spins to a stop at his feet.

He gives the rotating saber a very loaded glance, the cogs in his head clearly turning as he realises he can do the very same thing, rotating the Skywalker lightsaber to kill Snoke without him noticing.

While fans can debate precisely when Kylo decided he wanted to kill Snoke, this is evidently the moment at which everything clicked and he decided to go through with it.

And so Snoke, by throwing Rey to the ground and planting the idea in Kylo's head, inadvertently brought about his own death in that moment.
