5. Don't Panic - All Your Favourite Monsters Will Appear In The Jack Black Goosebumps Movie
If you somehow missed the terrifying joy of the Goosebumps books when you were just a kid, tough break - you lost out big time, buddy. Still, there's an opportunity to catch up on the genius of R.L. Stine's endlessly brilliant kids' stories in the form of a movie, which is coming to a theatre near you very soon. Also: it stars Jack Black as R.L. Stine himself. In a sort of twisted meta-move, the film will feature Stine as a character, whose nightmarish creations end up coming to life. Which means that die-hard fans have been speculating which, if any, of the "classic" Goosebumps monsters will be making an appearance. The answer? All of them, apparently - at least, according to R.L. Stine:
"All the early monsters that are in the books. They all come out, theyre all there. The real evil one is Slappy the Dummy, hes there, the Abominable Snowman from Pasadena is there, and lawn gnomes, HUNDREDS of lawn gnomes. Theyre great, theyre really good. There was a giant praying mantis, and this insect plays a very large part in the movie, its pretty horrifying. The effects Ive seen are not finished but theyre terrific."
