Proving that spin-offs are nothing new, Sister Streetfighter was spun off from Sonny Chiba’s hugely successful action franchise with the dual intention of capitalizing on pinku films (Japanese sexploitation thrillers) by casting a female lead.

To the gratitude of action fans everywhere, that female lead is Etsuko 'Sue' Shiomi, a graduate of Chiba’s Japan Action Club who also had a bit part in The Streetfighter. While searching for her missing brother in Hong Kong, she gets into one incredible fight scene after another, flooring her opponents in one scene before scurrying up a wall in a single take.

Thankfully, the villains are so cartoonish that their shenanigans never become boring. Among those introduced with freeze-frame captions are “Tessin – the sickle user” and “Eva Parrish – karate champion of Australia” though special mention must be made of shoulderpads-loving Hammerhead, who goes everywhere followed by six dudes in conical black helmets that cover their faces.
