10 Movies From 2018 That Were Completely Pointless

3. Death Wish

As far as pointless remakes go, Death Wish has to be somewhere at the top of the list. An ill-conceived, poorly-timed and gratuitously violent revenge flick, the update of the 1974 cult classic sees Bruce Willis continue his descent into Nicolas Cage-levels of mediocrity.

Willis, once one of the biggest movie stars in the business, had seen eight of his last nine movies go straight-to-video, with the outlier being the critical and commercial disaster Rock the Kasbah. After witnessing the sheer apathy that greeted his latest project, maybe Death Wish should have followed suit.

Director Eli Roth handles the potentially-tricky morality of the story with the subtlety of a kick in the nuts, while Willis once again sleepwalks his way through a routine shoot-em-up with all of the charisma and enthusiasm of a forgotten potato.

Hilariously described in one review as 'a movie for drunk uncles', Death Wish is a spectacularly misguided and entirely superfluous action thriller that fared just as poorly with audiences as it did with critics.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
