10 Pairs Of Awesome Actors Portraying One Character (At Different Ages)
How many times have you been watching a movie and it cuts to a flashback, but the child they cast as the younger version of the protagonist has no similarities to the adult actor? I find it happens more often than not and it is unbelievably distracting. Save for casting within the family (whaddup Smiths and Culkins), we'll never get an exact replica of what Bradley Cooper might have looked like as a child actor, but sometimes it seems as though casting directors don't even try. It is understandable that, should the flashback require extensive acting, a casting director would choose the child that was more natural on screen over a child that had naturally curly hair or bright green eyes. However, I'm a firm believer in that if you look for it, you'll find it. Rather than order a day's worth of child actors to read for a role, they should look for the child out there that can both act naturally in front of a camera and is a close twin of their actor. But, what do I know, right? I'm just an article writer. If I had to make tough decisions like the ones I've just criticized, I'd probably be out of a job. What I do know, however, is that there have been those shining, shooting stars of perfect child and adult actors teaming up for the same role. When it happens, it's like magic! We eat it up! Even though we know we're not watching eight year-old Robin Williams, there is that suspension of disbelief that helps us get into the flashback without missing a beat. The following list is ten examples that I, personally, found to be uncanny matches of child and adult actors playing the same role. Not only did the young stars look like their alter egos, but they sounded and acted like them as well, resulting in a very convincing performance. If you don't see your favorite young/adult actor team on this list, feel free to leave it in the comments section below! Now, onto the list...
