10 Reasons The New Peanuts Film Will Be A Complete Success
3. Blue Sky Studios
The Peanuts animated specials were happily accepted despite their flaws, and in fact, it's possible to say that those flaws are precisely what make them so endearing - so much so that it's choppy style of animation has been purposefully duplicated in many of the specials since. What most people remember and love about A Charlie Brown Christmas specifically is how strung together it feels and how, despite that, there is an intense earnestness that cannot be shaken. Blue Sky Studios is one of the most popular in animation today, as virtually all of their films have been successful, from their four Ice Age films, through Rio, Horton Hears a Who, Robots, and the recent Epic. Their history stretches as far back as the early 1980's and they've come a long way from working on commercials, to being an in house effects firm, to a full blown feature film production company. Their history is real and meaningful and the success of their films is also due to the animators desire to tell heartfelt, emotional stories. Their work is also incredibly beautiful: based solely on the teaser for the new Peanuts film, it looks like we never imagined it could; tangible. Snoopy has fur and even Charlie Brown's single hair has volume. In a world dominated by films such as these, Peanuts has to be updated in order to stay on top. Even Craig Schulz admits his father would've embraced the new technology. "It would have been absolutely logical for him to have come on board. And it brings you closer into the comic strip." If we know that the artist who has been like a father to so many fans would've endorsed it, why shouldn't the rest of audiences?
