It might seem somewhat contradictory to say this, given the points already in the article (such as not adding in any more characters), but there does need to be something about this movie that surprises us - otherwise the predictable formula it's going to use is going to end up very underwhelming. Batman sees Superman's exploits causing destruction, Lex Luthor likely informs the caped crusader that he's a threat to mankind, Batman gets given some Kryptonite in order to bring Superman down to his level, Batman and Superman fight. Meanwhile, other heroes like Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Cyborg surface conveniently in order to form an alliance with the pair after they inevitably hug it out and agree to join forces. Or, Batman make Gotham too safe, the government don't like it, the government employ Superman to rid Gotham of Batman and a fight ensues in the same way as the scenario above. One of those two descriptions is this movie in a nutshell. We effectively know what's going to happen already - two years before its release. Therefore, something needs to happen that we aren't expecting, without making the movie more ridiculously jam-packed than it already is. Your move, DC/Warner Brothers.
