10 Trilogies That Actually Get Better With Each Movie

1. The Sonic The Hedgehog Trilogy

When the first images dropped for the Sonic the Hedgehog movie way back in 2019, the general public on the whole was so offended by what Paramount Pictures had done to the Sonic design that the aesthetic of the character was ultimately changed. Who would have thought we would go from such outrage to a genuinely outstanding trilogy?

There are multiple things that have helped Sonic go from strength to strength, starting with the fact that the movies are just so much fun. They know what the audience wants from a Sonic franchise, and have given it to them.

Everyone's favourite blue hedgehog has gradually been joined by incredibly popular characters as the series has gone on, with Tails (Colleen O'Shaughnessey) and Knuckles (Idris Elba) coming in for the sequel, and Shadow (Keanu Reeves) joining the fray in Sonic 3. No sharks were jumped here, but rather this was done methodically for the best effect possible.

Then there is the fact that throughout the films, Jim Carrey's Dr. Robotnik has remained constant as Sonic's villain. Outside of Professor X and Magneto, how often does such a rivalry last for three films? It certainly has in the case of Sonic and the Egg Man, and the franchise has been much richer for it.

Yes, there may be a fourth Sonic on the way, meaning this won't count as a trilogy for too much longer, but as of right now, it's perfect.
