10 Most Underrated Actors In Hollywood

1. Mark Ruffalo

Mark Ruffalo should need no introduction, yet your average cinemagoer would probably struggle to tell you his name. A neat trick for a man who had a starring role in the third-highest-grossing movie of all time. Replacing Edward Norton - another underrated actor who could easily have graced this list - as Bruce Banner/Hulk in Marvel€™s ever-expanding cinematic universe could have proved daunting, yet Ruffalo emerged as the best version of the character(s) to date. Then again, the actor has made a habit of being one of the best things about every film he appears in, and you get the feeling he's yet to reach his peak. Ruffalo€™s personal career highlight was surely the Best Supporting Actor nomination he received for his fine work in The Kids Are All Right, and it comes as something of a surprise that it remains his only major awards recognition to date. He first came to prominence with a mesmerising turn in You Can Count On Me in 2000, and recovered from surgery to remove a brain tumour to feature in Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind, Collateral, Zodiac and Shutter Island. This year Ruffalo€™s performance helped elevate the otherwise average Begin Again, and Foxcatcher may well see the likeable actor€™s name mentioned a lot now that awards season is entering full swing. If 2015 doesn't quite prove to be his year, he shouldn't have to wait much longer. Any other actors you think deserve more love? Give €˜em a shout out below.

I watch movies and I watch sport. I also watch movies about sport, and if there were a sport about movies I'd watch that too. The internet was the closest thing I could find.
