11 EXHILARATING Scenes From Average Movies

8. The Lion King - The Lion Sleeps Tonight

Spectre Day Of The Dead
Disney

Not many people would shed a tear if Disney did away with their live-action reboots. 2019's The Lion King, while visually gorgeous, is an emotionless, mechanical machine under the hood. The realistic facial rendering of the character's faces doesn't aid the lifeless script that is, as far as the main plotline goes, a line-by-line rendition of the original with none of the charm. And don't even get me started on Can You Feel The Love This Sunny Afternoon.

However, the remake Lion King shows shimmers of promise when it came to the comedic actors, particularly Billy Eichner and Seth Rogan as Timon and Pumba. Their dynamic vocal performances fight over the overly-realistic CGI and feel much more expressive than the titular beasts. It's obvious the script didn't tie down the two either as they playfully riff off each other with humorous improvisation skills.

One particular scene that stands as a shining improvement from the original is Pumba and Timon's The Lion Sleeps Tonight. It's a fun, playful envisionment of both the characters, bolstered by the orchestra of chirping parrots, grazing gazelles, and other chanting furry friends.

You can't help but tap your foot to the rhythm, lapping up the colourful scenery as the song crescendos and startingly cuts off when Nala pounces on the unsuspecting animals of prey. When it comes to musical numbers, Timon and Pumba can't catch a break.
