Fans of Michael Rooker will see him in a new light after watching Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer. Loosely based on the real life murders of Henry Lee Lucas and Peter Ottis Toole, this NC17 psychological horror film is disturbing.

If you thought Rooker's Merle Dixon or Ravager Yondu was cruel, they look like saints compared to Henry. Traveling around the country killing men, women, and children with impunity, the plot focuses on Henry's short stay in Chicago where he invites drug dealer Otis to join in his murderous hobby.

Audiences watching the film now may be a little turned off by its brutality, but upon release, the portrayal of such violence earned it positive and negative reviews. It's still looked at as one of the most disturbing. A compelling film that forces audiences to control the raw rage of real-life monsters, Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer is a must-watch for horror fans and a decent depiction of an often overlooked American serial killer.
