12 Times Gandalf Seriously Dropped The Ball
Where were your eagles when you actually needed them?
If you don't know the work of J.R.R Tolkien inside out, you'll probably have an image of Gandalf the Grey in your mind without having delved too much into his characterisation. At a rough guess: tall wizard with large beard who carries a stick, can do some magic, has a pet eagle tribe, and gets changed at some point during the Lord of The Rings trilogy into cleaner whiter robes. Well, you're not entirely wrong. As much as Gandalf is a likeable character in both The Lord of The Rings and The Hobbit trilogy, sometimes he proves that he's just like everyone else. He might wear a pointy hat and occasionally pull a brilliant life-saving trick out of the air, but actually Gandalf's more human than you might believe: because he makes mistakes. Often serious ones. Not that anyone is pointing the finger here, but seriously, have you ever counted the various mistakes he makes along two rather important quests (one to help some dwarfs, and the other to save Middle Earth)? Have you ever found yourself down on your knees in front of a TV screen yelling "NO GANDALF, WHY ARE YOU SAYING THAT? YOU ARE GOING TO IMMEDIATELY REGRET THAT DECISION, GANDALF!" If you have, you're not alone, and it's not surprising given the list of his most annoying misadventures (even the trivial ones)...
