7. Christopher Mintz-Plasse Was Almost Kick-Ass Before He Was Red Mist

In Superbad's McLovin, Christopher Mintz-Plasse proved that he had the geeky credentials needed to pull off the non-costumed side of the Kick-Ass character, which is perhaps why he was sent the script to audition for unlikely teenage superhero Dave Lizewski.

Despite the fact that Mintz-Plasse's career had suggested very little aptitude for action, there was obviously something there to convince the casting team to single him out as a good candidate. Sadly, Matthew Vaughn didn't agree, and hated the actor's audition, though clearly not enough to kick him out entirely.

Instead, as Aaron Taylor-Johnson was cast as Kick-Ass, and McLovin became mob kid Chris D'Amico, who would evolve into Red Mist in the sequel.
