Due for release early in 2016, and likely to divide audiences as sharply as the original French version did, Martyrs is the story of a girl seeking vengeance on the family that kidnapped and tortured her years earlier (to reveal any more would be unthinkable). That is, assuming this American version follows the same basic plot. Blumhouse, the production company that gave us Insidious and Paranormal Activity, isnt known for the explicitness of its material, and the filmmakers have sworn that the film wont be as violent as Pascal Laugiers 2008 movie, so watch this space. The directors, by the way are Michael and Kevin Goetz, who also made 2013s Scenic Route, another movie that wasnt overly explicit. Is Martyrs plot strong enough to survive being toned down? Well see.
